Fall on the Byway

Autumn is a great time to plan a visit to the Kennebec River valley. For many of the local residents, this is their favorite time of year. The brilliant leaves makes for exceptional Foliage Viewing. There are many scenic drives and turnouts where visitors can enjoy and photograph the fall colors. 

The cool, crisp days also make a  great time to hike into one of the areas many scenic Waterfalls. You may also choose to spend an exciting day Whitewater Rafting or Canoeing / Kayaking on one off the regions many Lakes and Ponds.

There are numerous lodging and accommodations available during the fall months, ranging from Camping facilities to traditional sporting camps and full service inns.

For the sportsmen, Hunting is in full swing for Moose, Deer, Bear, and Upland Birds. Late season Fishing for Trout and Salmon is also very popular on the Kennebec and Dead Rivers.
