US Route 201, about halfway between Boston, Massachusetts and Quebec City, Canada, The Forks is named for the confluence of Maine’s Dead and Kennebec Rivers and is a very special and friendly place.

The Dead and Kennebec Rivers are well known for the best whitewater rafting and fishing in the northeastern United States. Winter brings Maine’s best snowmobile trails, snowmobile rentals and the amenities to support them. Winter in The Forks area is a great place for cross country skiing, ice fishing or snowshoeing.

Caratunk is a delightful, quiet little village just off the Arnold Trail and along the Old Canada Road Scenic Byway. The famed Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia passes directly through this old fashioned town. Three miles east of Caratunk, entirely surrounded by mountains of ledge and forest is one of Maine’s and nature’s most beautiful spots - Pleasant Pond. Pleasant Pond is completely spring-fed, and is so clear and sparkling that one may easily see to depths of 30 feet. This is truly an ideal spot for fishing swimming, boating or just relaxing.
